FC Bosna (football club)

In the early 2000s more and more Bosnians moved to Turku from different parts of Finland. People who had lived apart for years began to meet, spend time together and connect again. One of the most natural ways to get to know each other and come together was football. It all began informally, with futsal in sports halls, various tournaments and eleven-a-side matches. People of different generations came together, and out of that shared company and love of football grew the idea of founding an organized football club.

In 2002 FC Bosna entered its team in an eleven-a-side league. That was the start of a story that continues today. Over the years the club has grown, and football has become much more than a sport. FC Bosna has become a place where the Bosnian community in Turku and the surrounding area meets, spends time together and stays connected.

Today FC Bosna is active in several areas. In eleven-a-side football we have a senior team competing in the 5th division of the West region, and the club is especially active in futsal. Our first futsal team competes in the 2nd division of the West region, an important step in the club's development. We pay special attention to work with young people. We currently have three junior futsal teams, and the club hopes to form a junior team for eleven-a-side tournaments in the future. We believe that working with children matters not only for the sport. Through training and shared activities, children get to know each other, make friends and grow up together. In this way we want to help preserve the Bosnian language, culture, traditions and identity, while teaching children the values sport carries: respect, responsibility, teamwork and togetherness. In winter we also run a playgroup for our youngest, where children make their first contacts with peers from the community through play from an early age.

FC Bosna is not just a football club. Our members also take an active part in activities that bring life to our community and connect it. Over the years the club has become a place where sport, friendship, family and togetherness meet. From the first matches and tournaments in the early 2000s, through the founding of the club in 2002, to today's senior and junior teams, FC Bosna keeps building its story and raising new generations of athletes, friends and members of the community.
